Twitter Hacked

The famous social media site has been hacked admits a Twitter spokesperson.  250,000 account have been compromised with stolen information including user names and passwords.  This also means that any associated accounts or related email addresses are compromised.  Change your Twitter passwords TODAY!  Any account that was related to Twitter such as recovery information or linked accounts needs the passwords changed today.  This latest hack follows a trend recently of well organized hackers taking down a site or accessing user information.  It is highly recommended that internet user users change the passwords on all accounts and replace weak passwords with strong ones.  A strong password is one that is at least 8 characters in length, a combination of letters, numbers, and special characters.  Here is a list of the top 15 most common passwords of 2012:

God, pass123, f@#kyou, 987654321, 8008, and daddy are still among the top 100 and commonly used.  If you see your own password on this list, or if it is less than 8 characters, does not contain a mix of uppercase, lowercase, and special character symbols, then you need to consider changing it today.  These types of attacks will only become more and more common and as the Chinese, Korean, Russian, and homegrown hackers find more ways to use your information, the impact will be felt.
